The primary design inspirations for Agora, at the University of Northern British Columbia, were the architectural styles of the existing building, as well as the stunning landscaping around the university.

Working with key stakeholders, the Turner Fleischer vision would include natural materials to contrast the linear, architectural structure of the space. Some of the finishes include textural natural woods, warm creams and grays with punches of green to add interest. Architectural lighting as well as accent pendants over the salad/deli bar makes the overall space glow.

Design features include: the natural wood counter face contrasts with the light grey counter tops; the crispness of the counters allows for the food offerings to be displayed at their very best; cut outs on the counter faces to allow for plates storage; the graphics and brick at the Hearthstone Oven add warmth to the space creating a welcoming feel. The overall feel is youthful, earthy and contemporary, appropriate for the University environment.
