The James Club, a condominium project in Toronto, derives its inspiration from nearby James Gardens and the exclusive nature of the Kingsway neighbourhood.
Reimagining the potential of infill development, this site was created within an established 300 unit residential project. The condominium building was proposed to fit harmoniously within its context and create exclusive residences. After working closely with the City of Toronto’s Planning Department, the team at Turner Fleischer designed a solution that was approved for a 209 unit, 14-storey building, with upper floor terraces to create a transition to the existing established community. This innovative solution blended old and new, allowing both buildings to showcase the distinct character of the exclusive area.
Beyond the new residences, the parking structure was partly demolished and parking for the existing residential building was moved underground, enhancing facilities of the two sites. Ultimately, it’s the finely proportioned, respectful façade that stands out as a striking addition to the neighbourhood.
